Boris Becker ARRESTED
Boris Becker is known for two things: diving flat out on the Wimbledon grass, and becoming the youngest male tennis player at Wimbledon in 1985 (at the age of 17). The German has won 6 Grandslam as a player and proceeded to win 6 more as a coach with Novak Djokovic.
In 2017, the German grand slam champion had Becker "was legally obliged to disclose all of his assets so that his trustee could distribute available funds to his creditors, to whom he owed nearly £50m when he was declared bankrupt". (BBC)
In 2017, Becker was declared bankrupt over an unpaid loan of about 4.6 million euros ($5 million) from a private bank. He was later found to have secretly transferred significant amounts of money from his business accounts to other private accounts, including to his ex-wife Barbara and estranged wife Sharley. He also failed to disclose an 825,000 euro loan, his shares in a tech firm, and a share in a property in Germany. Becker was previously convicted of tax evasion and attempted tax evasion in Germany in 2002, but his two-year sentence was suspended. (Bleacher Report)
In terms of our own opinion, Becker was a great player and coach for one of the best players of all time. I really don't get where all his money went. Boris Becker made more than $30 million in his career and once he declared bankruptcy, who was he trying to save? If it was himself, why would he hide assets? I don't get it.
