Worthy of a Comeback? The Sharapova Shambles
First off, this is my first blog so please be forgiving when reading this. Second, this whole Sharapova fiasco is going on a bit too long for my liking. Yes, she did use a drug that was banned at the beginning of 2016. Yes, she needs to prove herself before she be given main draw without qualifying into them. By just giving free hand outs to those who have had success and worked for it is fine. Giving a wild card entry to someone who was caught using a drug that has been banned, that's another story.
As of right now, April 28th, Sharapova has reached the semifinals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix winning over qualifier Kontaveit. This is not saying much since Sharapova has not played anyone in the Top 10 rankings of the WTA in months. Once she starts earning her way back up the rankings, we will see if people start changing their mind about her.
SHOUTOUTS OF THE DAY
- Kiki Mlandenovic for getting to the semifinal of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix after beating Angelique Kerber
- ATP Next Gen Star Chung for defeating Zverev and giving Nadal a run for his money
- Ilie Nastase for still having one of the biggest and foulest of tennis
