Rafa Rolls, Zavastka Runs Out of Racquets, and a SIX HOUR MATCH - Day 2 Results and Recap

The king of clay is back! And while this may not be the best conditions Rafael Nadal likes to play in, he still dominated Gerasimov to start the journey for his 13th Roland Garros title. Rafa has been quoted saying that the balls are not ideal and the elements will favor other players rather than himself... excuse me?? Rafa admitting he might not be the favorite sounds ridiculous. He must know, as well as everyone else, that he is still the favorite to win the title. Right?

On the women's side, one moment that really blew my mind was during the Zavatska versus Bertens match. Zavatska, a 20-year-old Ukrainian, had an early lead against the fifth seed Kiki Bertens but slowly started to unfold where they had to go to a decider to see who would win. But as the match goes on, one of the most bizarre things happens. Zavatska breaks all of her strings, and we mean ALL of them. This resulted in her playing with a random Babolat that her coach must have had? (not quite sure where it came from).

And last but not least, we just had the second-longest match EVER played in Roland Garros HISTORY. Lorenzo Giustiano, a 29-year-old Italian with only 5 tour-level wins on clay, takes out young French talent Moutet in 6 hours and 5 minutes... The record for the longest match is still held by Fabrice Santoro and Arnaud Clement which went on for about six and a half hours. The final set finished 18-16 in favor of the Italian with a total of over 450 total points and over 140 winners. The Italian will face off against 12 seed Diego Schwartzman in the next round.
