If You Watch the French Open, WATCH THE QUALIFIERS TOOOOOOO
The French Open, a.k.a Roland Garros, is one of the four slams that mean the most on tour. Every player wants to compete and play their best tennis at this event. I am writing this piece for two reasons: 1) to inform you guys (the readers) about who is competing in the qualifying draw for Roland Garros. And 2) the qualifying draws for these grand slams are absolutely STACKED with talent!
I feel like most people do not understand that these smaller tournaments that go on around the world, are comprised of the players in the qualifying draws. It is crazy how people will skip over watching the qualifying draw because it isn't the main draw of the tournament. But look, this is like watching the play-in games for the NCAA Basketball tournament!
There is so much extra energy and effort that goes into these matches. I'm not saying that everyone doesn't give 100% but those who are qualifying for the main draw are fighting for a year's salary of work! If you lose the first round, you still make 60,000 Euros ($73,000 plus).
